If you read only one spec on a garage door datasheet, read the gauge. It controls more about hail resistance, wind-load rating, panel durability, and resale value than any other single number. How to Verify the Gauge of Your Current Door

- Caliper measurement. If you have a digital caliper, remove a section of weatherstripping and measure the panel edge thickness directly.
